MAH MBA/MMS CET exam pattern: 2026 baseline
The latest directly opened MAH MBA/MMS CET examination brochure describes the 2026 paper for admissions in 2026–27. It specifies a 200-question computer-based test in English, with five options per multiple-choice question, one mark for a correct answer, no negative marking and 150 minutes overall. These are historical 2026 rules. The official sources checked on 27 October 2026 do not establish that the 2027–28 paper will retain the same format. Confirm the next brochure before setting a current-cycle mock-test plan.
2026 section distribution
The official brochure assigns 100 questions to the two reasoning areas together, half of the paper. Logical Reasoning alone accounts for 75 of the 200 questions. Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability/Reading Comprehension account for 50 each, while Abstract Reasoning accounts for 25. This is a comparison of question counts, not a claim that one section is easier, more difficult or more predictive of the final percentile.
Time and question handling
The 2026 test duration was 150 minutes. The brochure’s test instructions state that candidates could attempt questions at any point during those 150 minutes and that each question had five possible answers, of which one was correct. It did not describe separate sectional clocks in the opened material. Unless the 2027–28 instructions say otherwise, do not assume a fixed time quota for each section based on a coaching mock interface.
For planning against the 2026 format, 150 minutes across 200 questions gives an overall average of 45 seconds per question. This arithmetic is only a pacing reference: questions vary in the reading, calculation or set-up they require, and a candidate need not spend equal time on every item. Use timed mocks to learn when to move on, and reserve time for review only if the live interface’s instructions permit it. The 2027 brochure and candidate instructions control the actual navigation and review rules.
Marking and percentile are separate concepts
Under the 2026 brochure, a correct answer earned one mark and the paper had no negative marking. A raw score is the number of marks from the test under that scoring rule. The result section of the same brochure says percentile scores would be calculated from raw marks in multiple shifts. Percentile is a relative score, not the percentage of questions answered correctly. Do not convert one to the other or estimate an admission outcome from raw marks alone.
The 2026 document described two attempts conducted in multiple shifts. It said that a candidate taking both attempts would have the better of the two percentile scores considered for 2026–27 admission. Whether the 2027–28 examination has one or more attempts, uses the same score treatment or follows the same normalisation method remains unconfirmed here. Read the new brochure’s result section before registering for attempts or comparing mock scores with old percentile predictors.
What the section labels mean
The 2026 brochure describes Logical and Abstract Reasoning as measures of quick and accurate thinking, including figures, diagrams and verbal reasoning. Quantitative Aptitude concerns numerical calculations and arithmetic, including ratio, proportion and percentage, and interpretation of tables, graphs and charts. Verbal Ability/Reading Comprehension uses passages and questions about their content, together with grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms and appropriate expressions.
The pattern table tells you how many questions were allocated in 2026; it does not publish section-wise cutoffs. The brochure’s allocation also does not prove that every shift had the same difficulty. For preparation, compare performance across practice sets and review the exact error type, such as a missed condition in a reasoning puzzle, a calculation mistake, or an unsupported inference from a passage. That diagnostic approach is study guidance, not an official scoring adjustment.
Exam-day duration and logistics
The 150-minute examination duration is not the whole time commitment at the test centre. The 2026 brochure says candidates might have to stay at the venue for approximately four hours to allow for login, hall-ticket collection and instructions. It also states that the medium was English and the mode was online. Plan transport around the reporting time printed on the hall ticket, not only the duration of the test.
The same brochure describes a computer-based format. Candidates should read the current instructions for login, question navigation, marking responses and submitting the test, rather than relying on a previous-year screen recording. Practice with the official sample questions when available, but treat any third-party interface as a preparation tool rather than the live interface specification.
What is not confirmed for the next cycle
The CET Cell’s official syllabus-and-marking-scheme index lists technical-education syllabus material for academic year 2026–27, and its CET brochure listing identifies the 2026 MBA/MMS brochure. Those official pages confirm the cycle of the available material; they do not establish an unchanged 2027–28 pattern. The number of attempts, total questions, time limit, marks, negative marking, language and section weights should all be checked against the current 2027–28 brochure when it appears.
Use the State CET Cell’s CET brochure page and syllabus and marking scheme index for official documents. If a later official notice changes the exam format, follow the newer notice for the affected session. Keep the date and year of any mock test or pattern comparison visible so historical 2026 numbers are not mistaken for the next cycle’s rules.
