There is no single MHT-CET cutoff number
A cutoff is meaningful only when its course, institute, round, seat pool and category are known. MHT-CET percentile is an examination score; CAP cutoffs and closing ranks describe admission outcomes for particular seats. They are not interchangeable. The score at which a candidate was last allotted one branch in one round does not create a universal minimum percentile for the college or for a later year.
As of 27 October 2026, the official engineering and pharmacy CAP portals publish 2026-27 merit and round information. The State CET Cell has not issued 2027 cutoffs because the 2027 examination and admission cycle has not yet run. Any 2027 college-wise cutoff table now would be a forecast, not an official result. Use past CAP records to understand patterns, then replace them with current-cycle data when the authority publishes it.
How to read a CAP cutoff list
Start by locating the official portal for the course. The engineering CAP portal publishes round-wise cutoffs and allotment information for engineering and technology admissions. The pharmacy portal publishes separate lists for B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D. Agriculture and allied courses use a different process. Check that the PDF or table is marked for the correct year and round before copying any number.
For each entry, record the exact institute and programme code, not just the college name. Then note the round, seat category or quota, Maharashtra State or All India pool, reservation category and any gender pool shown. A Maharashtra State closing rank cannot be compared directly with an All India closing rank. Nor should a general category row be treated as a reserved-category cutoff. If the list reports percentile rather than merit rank, label the measure exactly as shown.
Read the table headings and footnotes before using a value. CAP files may separate seat types, candidates, courses or rounds. Some data describes provisional allotments, some final allotments, and a vacancy list may relate to seats after regular CAP rounds. These are different stages. Do not combine them into one trend line without confirming that the comparison basis is the same.
Use previous years as context, not a promise
Historical cutoffs can help you understand whether a course has typically filled at a more competitive or less competitive point, and how the closing position moved between rounds. Compare like with like: same programme, institute code, round, pool and category. If a value changes, check whether the intake, seat matrix, institute status or rules also changed. A numerical movement can reflect a different seat pool, not just increased or reduced popularity.
A closing rank is the last rank at which a seat was allotted under that particular round and pool. It is not the rank at which every applicant gets a seat, and it does not guarantee that a candidate with the same rank will receive the same programme next year. Applicant preferences, available seats, candidate scores and CAP rules can all change. Percentile is also relative to the candidates and session; raw marks and percentile values should not be treated as stable conversions across years.
For planning, use historical cutoffs to create three bands: options that appear ambitious based on prior comparable data, options near your observed range, and safer alternatives that you would genuinely accept. These are planning bands, not official probabilities. Include multiple institutes and branches, and consider location, approved intake, total cost and course fit. A short list containing only aspirational choices can leave you with few alternatives if the seat matrix changes.
The current-year process matters more than a prediction
When 2027 CAP begins, first confirm your eligibility and the merit pool in which you are listed. Review the seat matrix for the current round, then open the matching cutoff or allotment record. Do not rely on a cutoff table that omits whether it concerns Maharashtra State, All India, institutional quota or a vacancy round. If your category certificate or candidature status changes, your relevant row may change too.
During option filling, review the current seat-acceptance and betterment rules. Some choices can affect eligibility for later rounds or require reporting by a deadline. The cutoff is background evidence; your submitted preference order and the rules for that round determine how the system considers your options. Save a copy of the final option form and allotment result.
If an official list appears inconsistent, check the portal for a revised file or notice and contact the admission authority using the current helpdesk details. Do not fill a missing number with an aggregator estimate. A blank or unavailable value is more informative than a fabricated comparison.
Where to find authoritative records
For engineering, use the State CET Cell’s FE CAP portal, which provides merit lists, allotment status, seat matrices and round cutoffs for AY 2026-27. For pharmacy, use the pharmacy CAP portal and select the required round and candidate pool. Follow the agriculture authority’s current portal for its own courses and lists. The central CET Cell site provides notices and links to the relevant admission portals.
Before comparing colleges, save the source file and note its publication date. Record the exact row labels alongside every value so that a later comparison does not lose the category or round. This makes it possible to see when a cutoff is genuinely comparable and when the underlying seat definition changed. Until the 2027 results exist, no 2027 cutoff should be presented as official.
