NMAT accepting colleges 2026: official school list and how to verify a programme
GMAC’s official NMAT accepting-schools page lists 62 institutions as of 27 October 2026. The page includes programme-specific entries alongside universities and business schools, so a name on the list does not mean every course at that institution accepts NMAT. The list is a starting point: before selecting a score recipient or applying, confirm acceptance, eligibility, score year, attempt policy and deadline on the exact programme’s current official admissions page.
NMAT registration and school applications are separate. GMAC says candidates must apply independently to their chosen MBA or management programmes. A score report sent through the NMAT dashboard does not complete an institutional application, and the school decides how it uses the score. This distinction is particularly important for NMIMS: its MBA 2027 process has a separate Step 2 application, a school-specific first-attempt rule and a deadline that differs from the NMAT registration close date.

The official list itself names selected programmes for some entries, such as ISB’s AMPBA, SPJIMR’s Global Management Programme, Great Lakes’ PGPM and Adani University’s MBA in Infrastructure Management. That is a reminder to read the school page carefully: acceptance may be limited to the listed programme or subject to current admissions rules. Do not infer an NMAT route for a different degree at the same university without confirmation.
How to check that a programme accepts NMAT
Start with the GMAC accepting-schools list, then open the institution’s current admissions page for the programme and intake you want. Verify the exact course title, campus and admission year. Search for the named test under accepted exams and read any restrictions on test mode, score date, attempt number or report delivery. If the language is unclear, ask the institution’s admissions office and keep its response.
Check these details before paying or sending a score:
- Programme and campus: Does the policy cover the specific MBA, specialised management programme or postgraduate course and the campus you selected?
- Admission intake: Is NMAT accepted for this application year, and is a 2026 test score valid for that intake?
- Score mode: Does the school accept all GMAC-authorized delivery modes, or does it specify a test-centre score?
- Attempt rule: Does the programme consider the first attempt, highest score, latest score or another defined attempt?
- Score threshold: Has the school published a current total or sectional requirement? Is the figure a confirmed cutoff or an estimate from another source?
- Separate application: Must you submit an application form and fee through the school’s portal in addition to NMAT registration?
- Deadline: When must the application and score report arrive? These can have separate dates.
NMIMS shows why programme checks matter
NMIMS is prominent on the NMAT accepting-schools list, but its own MBA 2027 admissions page controls the school’s process. As of 27 October 2026, the page shows its application deadline extended to 31 October 2026. It describes Step 1 as registering and scheduling NMAT, then Step 2 as completing and paying for the separate NMIMS application. It says the application is complete only after Step 2 is submitted.
The same NMIMS page states that MBA 2027 accepts first-attempt NMAT scores only, that the cutoff varies by campus and programme each year, and that it does not accept online home-proctored scores for this process. Those are NMIMS rules. They do not apply automatically to the other 61 entries on GMAC’s list. GMAC’s 2026 first-attempt registration window ended 25 October; NMIMS’s application extension to 31 October does not reopen GMAC’s exam registration.
This example illustrates three separate decisions: GMAC decides the exam schedule and candidate attempt rules; NMIMS decides its programme acceptance and selection conditions; the applicant must complete both the exam-side and institution-side steps that remain open. Other schools can use different rules.
What the accepting-schools list does not tell you
The list identifies institutions or specific programmes that GMAC presents as NMAT accepting. It is not a consolidated admissions prospectus. It does not, by itself, state each institution’s current eligibility criteria, application fee, deadline, number of seats, cutoff, interview format, scholarship rules or final merit formula. Those details are owned by the schools and may change between cycles.
The list also does not mean an applicant receives automatic consideration after the test. Candidates generally need to select score recipients, submit separate school applications and provide required academic or personal information. A programme may have additional steps after a candidate meets its score screen. A school can also update its accepted test policy even when it remains listed by GMAC, so check both sources near the time you apply.
Finally, acceptance is not the same as admission eligibility. GMAC says candidates who complete exam registration, pay and comply with exam terms may sit NMAT. Each institution independently defines who qualifies for its degree. Confirm the academic qualification, minimum marks, final-year conditions, work experience or other requirements for the exact programme.
Choosing a practical shortlist
Use the GMAC list as a discovery set, then narrow it based on programme fit and verifiable requirements. A useful shortlist spreadsheet can include: school and programme; campus; official admissions URL; NMAT testing year accepted; score and attempt policy; application deadline; eligibility; separate application status; and next action. Record when you checked each page so that you know which facts need refreshing.
Separate confirmed facts from estimates. If an institution publishes a current cutoff, preserve whether it is a total score, section score or percentile and the cycle it applies to. If the only available number is a prior-year or third-party estimate, label it as historical or estimated. Do not treat GMAC’s percentile table as a college cutoff. Ask the admissions office when the official page does not resolve a material question.
Pay attention to the score-report allowance. For the 2026 cycle, registration includes reports to five schools, while each additional report costs ₹400 plus applicable taxes. That can affect which institutions you select at registration. Verify program acceptance first; sending a score to an institution that does not use NMAT for your chosen course does not create an application.
2026 cycle and future updates
The official NMAT 2026 first-attempt registration and scheduling period ran from 20 August through 25 October. The exam delivery window is 2 November–20 December, with retake registration and scheduling listed from 3 November through 17 December. These are exam dates, not a common application calendar for all schools. Individual institutions may open or close applications on different dates.
No separate NMAT 2027 testing schedule is published on the official exam page as of 27 October 2026. Schools may already be advertising a later academic intake while using a 2026 exam score, as NMIMS MBA 2027 does. That does not establish the acceptance period for other schools. Confirm the exam year each programme will accept and revisit the GMAC list when the next test cycle is announced.
Frequently asked questions
How many schools accept NMAT?
GMAC’s official accepting-schools page displayed 62 entries on 27 October 2026. It is a dynamic list; verify the current page and exact programme before applying.
Does every programme at a listed university accept NMAT?
Not necessarily. GMAC’s list sometimes names a specific programme, and each institution sets programme-level admissions rules. Confirm the exact course and campus on the school’s official site.
Does selecting a school as an NMAT score recipient complete my application?
No. GMAC says exam registration and business-school applications are separate. Complete the school’s own form and any other required steps.
What is the NMIMS MBA 2027 NMAT policy?
As of 27 October 2026, NMIMS says it accepts only first-attempt scores for MBA 2027, that cutoffs vary by programme and campus, and that its separate application deadline is 31 October. Confirm the live NMIMS page; these rules are specific to NMIMS.
Can I rely on the GMAC list for deadlines and cutoffs?
No. The list is for acceptance discovery. Each school publishes its own deadlines, eligibility and score policies.
Is NMAT 2027 registration open?
No separate 2027 testing calendar is published by GMAC as of 27 October 2026. The 2026 test window and a school’s admission year are separate timelines.
