XAT does not provide one central seat-allotment process for all institutes that accept the exam. XLRI and other schools run their own shortlisting, interviews, offers and fee deadlines. XAT 2026’s official bulletin directs candidates to follow each associate institute’s application process and says each institute decides its own selection weights. For XAT 2027, XLRI has published a programme-specific admissions timeline, while other institutes’ calendars must be checked separately.
XLRI’s published 2027 selection timeline
XLRI’s official XAT admissions page gives a timeline for PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM): registration is listed through Pending verification, the XAT is scheduled for Pending verification, interview shortlists are expected at the end of January, interviews are listed for mid-February to mid-March, and offers and waitlists are listed for April 2027. The same page says dates may change and only shortlisted candidates will receive email communication with relevant details. These are XLRI’s programme-specific dates, not a universal calendar for every XAT-accepting institute.
The page also gives a separate schedule for PGDM (GM). Its XAT registration close is Pending verification; the page lists a third-week-of-January shortlist, first-week-of-February interviews and second-week-of-February offers and waitlist. It also distinguishes applicants using GMAT or GRE, with a different application close and score-validity window. Do not transfer the PGDM (GM) dates to BM or HRM, or assume that applying to one XLRI programme automatically covers another.
Because XLRI marks the dates as subject to change, check the current official page and your registered email after applying. A tentative interview or offer period is useful for broad planning, but the shortlist communication controls your actual reporting instructions, format, document requests and response deadline.
XAT score, shortlist and offer are different stages
The scorecard reports test performance. An institute then decides whether to shortlist an applicant under its own published process. A shortlist invitation is not an admission offer, and an offer is not complete until the candidate follows the institution’s acceptance and fee instructions by the stated deadline. Keep separate records for each stage: XAT registration, institute application, test result, shortlist, assessment or interview, offer, acceptance and enrolment.
For XLRI, the admissions page says programme selection criteria may differ. It describes XAT performance as one element, with academic background and relevant work experience potentially considered for shortlisting, and interview or group discussion performance plus other factors considered for the final list. A score above a prior-year cutoff therefore cannot be treated as a guarantee of interview or admission. Read the current selection criteria for the exact programme you applied to.
The 2026 XAT bulletin states that XLRI has no role in the selection process of associate institutes, and that each institution independently determines test-component weightages. This means there is no common XAT counselling portal that will allocate one seat across the whole participating network. A school may require a separate form, additional assessment, interview, deposit or document verification. The institution’s own notice governs those requirements.
Keep a separate tracker for each programme
Create one row for every programme and campus, even when two programmes belong to the same institute. Record the official programme name, intake year, separate application status, selection criteria URL, application ID, shortlist date if announced, interview format, documents requested, offer date and fee-response deadline. Include the date you checked each source. This makes it easier to spot a new notice and avoids mixing the calendars of XLRI programmes with those of other colleges.
After the XAT result, sign in to the official exam portal to download the scorecard, then sign in to each institute’s admissions portal. Check the email account and phone number used for registration. XLRI’s page says shortlisted candidates will be informed by email with relevant details; other schools may use their own portal or communication method. Do not rely on an old institute list or a third-party alert as the final notice.
If you receive an interview invitation, follow the stated format and deadline. Prepare the documents requested by that specific programme, and retain a copy of submissions and payment receipts. If an offer arrives, read the conditions and the amount due, the payment deadline, withdrawal or refund terms and any acceptance steps. A waitlist position is not a confirmed seat; follow only the instructions in the official communication and monitor subsequent updates.
What the 2027 calendar does not establish
XLRI’s published schedule gives expected shortlist, interview and offer periods for its own programmes, but it does not create a shared counselling calendar for all XAT users. The XAT portal’s exam timetable is separate from institute selection. Other institutes can announce different dates, use different stages or stop considering an application under their own rules. A candidate should not infer those dates from XLRI’s schedule.
The official pages reviewed also do not provide one universal 2027 cutoff or one final admission ranking for all programmes. Historical cutoffs can offer context only when the institute, programme, year, applicant group and selection stage match. They cannot predict an offer. Use the current institute notice for eligibility and selection details, and ask the admissions office if a material point is not clear.
Verify every next step through the responsible authority
For XLRI, use the XAT admissions overview and the live XAT application portal. For an associate institute, use its current programme admissions page and the official contact details published there. Confirm that the page names the correct intake, campus and programme before relying on it.
As of 27 October 2026, XLRI’s published page lists its 2027 interview and offer periods but cautions that dates can change. No common XAT counselling process for all accepting colleges is established in the official material reviewed. Treat each institute’s own notice and candidate communication as the controlling source for shortlisting, interviews, offer acceptance and enrolment.
