There is no single XAT cutoff that guarantees admission to every participating institute. Each school and programme sets its own selection process, and previous-year thresholds are not automatic qualifying marks for the next intake. XLRI has published a detailed XAT 2025 interview-cutoff table, but the 2027 selection thresholds are not established by the official material reviewed on 27 October 2026. Use the 2025 figures below only as a dated XLRI reference, then check the current programme notice when the 2027 selection process opens.
XLRI’s published 2025 interview cutoffs
XLRI’s official press release gives the following minimum percentiles for its 2025 BM and HRM interview shortlists. The rows distinguish the programme, academic stream and gender group. They are interview-stage thresholds, not final admission guarantees.
These are XLRI XAT 2025 percentiles as reported in the official cutoff release. Keep the columns together when comparing them: meeting an overall threshold did not erase the separately stated sectional thresholds. The release describes interview cutoffs, so crossing a row’s figures means meeting that published score threshold for the interview shortlist context, not securing an interview in every case or receiving an offer.
The same release says PGDM (BM) cutoffs applied at XLRI Jamshedpur and Delhi-NCR, and HRM applied at Jamshedpur. Do not carry the BM row to another XLRI programme or campus without a matching official notice. The press release does not establish 2026 or 2027 cutoffs.
What a cutoff can and cannot tell you
A cutoff is a screening point for a defined stage and applicant group. It should be read with its year, programme, campus, section, category or other segmentation, and the stage it controls. A published interview cutoff is different from a final-admission score or an offer threshold. XLRI’s current admissions overview says that selection criteria can differ by programme and that, beyond XAT performance, it may consider academic background and relevant work experience while shortlisting. It also says interviews or group discussions and other factors can contribute to the final list. This makes it unsafe to interpret a past interview cutoff as a promise of admission.
Percentile and raw score are not interchangeable. The official cutoff release expresses these thresholds in percentile. A raw-score estimate from a coaching page cannot be compared directly unless it is based on the same exam, year, scoring rules and cohort. Similarly, an overall percentile does not reveal whether a candidate meets the sectional threshold for the same programme and group. Compare like with like and keep the institute’s own language.
The XLRI source demonstrates why a single headline number is inadequate. In the 2025 table, BM thresholds differ by gender group but the listed engineering and non-engineering values are the same within each gender. HRM has different overall and section thresholds by both gender and stream. A candidate should locate the row that accurately describes their application rather than averaging values or choosing whichever threshold is lower.
Cutoffs at other XAT-accepting institutes
An XAT score can be used by many institutes, but there is no common XAT-wide cutoff for them. XAT’s 2026 e-Bulletin says associate institutes set their own selection procedures and the weight assigned to test components. Therefore, a cutoff published by XLRI does not apply to Goa Institute of Management, XIM University, MICA, IMT Ghaziabad or any other school. Check the specific institute’s admission notice for its programme and intake year.
Even within an institution, programmes can differ. Confirm whether the notice concerns the campus and programme you intend to join, whether it is an interview shortlist threshold, and whether it applies to overall or sectional percentiles. Look for an official publication date and the admissions cycle. If a school does not publish a numeric cutoff, do not convert an unofficial predictor into its policy. Use the source for what it actually states and contact admissions if a material eligibility question remains.
How to use historical cutoffs responsibly
Historical cutoffs can help you choose a preparation margin and understand the kind of score profile a school has previously shortlisted. They cannot predict an individual result. The applicant pool, paper difficulty, programme demand and selection policy can change from year to year. The sources reviewed do not provide a reliable formula for converting 2025 thresholds into 2027 thresholds.
For planning, treat the latest verified institute notice as the controlling source. After XAT 2027 results, look for the current shortlist communication and read the programme’s full selection policy, not just a number shared in a summary. A candidate whose percentile is below an old threshold should still check current eligibility and other programme options; a candidate above it should still complete all application steps and wait for the actual shortlist.
Current-cycle status
As of 27 October 2026, the official XAT site has announced the 2027 examination schedule, but the official XLRI cutoff document opened for this article is for XAT 2025. The XAT pages reviewed do not publish an XLRI 2027 interview cutoff or a universal XAT-accepting-college cutoff. The 2025 table above is preserved as dated history and should not be relabelled as current. Update this page when XLRI and other institutes publish their own 2027-28 selection thresholds.
