Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the new National Education Policy (NEP) is the medium for the fulfilment of new India, new expectations, new requirements, and the leaders of this journey of national education policy are teachers of the country. The Prime Minister said this while addressing a conference on ‘Schooling in the 21st Century’ under the National Education Policy – 2020. He said that the new education policy has laid the seeds for the creation of new era and it will give new direction to 21st century India. The Prime Minister said that after the announcement of National Education Policy (NEP), many people are getting many questions. For example, what is this education policy? How is it different, what will change in schools and colleges?
He said that the NEP focuses on children, in which the emphasis is on exploration, activities and learning in recreational ways. Modi said that every region of the world has changed in the last three decades, every system has changed. There is hardly any aspect of our life in these three decades which is the same as before. But the path on which society moves towards the future, our education system, it was still running on the old pattern.
Mr Modi said that the principal and teachers are participating enthusiastically in the campaign to implement the National Education Policy. He said that a few days ago the Ministry of Education had sought his suggestions from teachers across the country about implementing the National Education Policy on the ‘MyGov’ portal, in which more than 15 lakh suggestions have been received within a week.
He said that till now marks and marksheet based education system was dominating in our country, but now we have to increase easy and innovative methods in education. The Prime Minister said that the core of the new phase of study for children should be – participation, discovery, experience, expression and excellence.
