COMEDK UGET counselling is a separate seat-selection process after the entrance result. For 2026 B.E./B.Tech, COMEDK ran centralised online counselling through the candidate login. The counselling process document described four rounds. The cycle has concluded; as of 27 October 2026, no 2027-28 counselling schedule is available in the official pages reviewed. The steps below explain the 2026 process and should be treated as historical until COMEDK publishes the next notice.
Who needed to register
Candidates seeking a seat through COMEDK had to register for counselling even if they had already submitted the examination application and received a rank. COMEDK’s 2026 process document says the registration link appeared in applicant login, using the application number as the login ID. The candidate had to pay a non-refundable ₹2,000 counselling registration fee within the notified period and upload required documents. This charge was separate from the UGET application fee and from tuition or other college fees. Review the current payment and refund documents before paying in a future cycle.
Document verification controlled access to choice filling. The 2026 document says only candidates with completed registration, paid fee and a “Document Approved” status could fill choices. A “Document Rejected” status prevented further participation. Candidates had to check portal status and resolve missing or unclear records within the schedule. Supplementary candidates in 2026 had to register during the initial window; there was no separate registration period. The document gave those candidates a defined opportunity to upload their qualified supplementary marksheet before Round 3, and their choice filling was limited to Round 3.
The exact document list depended on candidate circumstances and applicable category or quota. The 2026 counselling page called for the original Class 12/2nd PUC or equivalent marks card, with specified provisions where the original or DigiLocker record was unavailable. OCI/PIO candidates had a declaration, and Kalyana Karnataka claimants needed the relevant certificate and Karnataka domicile proof. The page specified scanned file formats and sizes. Use the current checklist and upload clear scans; a photograph of a document or unreadable scan can cause verification trouble.
Choice filling and allotment
After verification, candidates used the portal to enter college and course preferences. The counselling document says seats were allotted online based on submitted choices and merit. Build the preference list before opening the portal: identify the exact college code and campus, branch, fees, location and the order in which you would genuinely accept the options. Do not list a course only because its past cutoff looked favourable if you would not attend it. The official seat matrix and round-specific notices are the controlling source for current availability.
The 2026 engineering process included multiple rounds with different seat pools and decision options. The counselling page describes Round 2 for Kalyana Karnataka seats and Round 3 for General Merit seats; Round 4 followed in the published schedule. After each allotment, read the exact status, deadline and consequences before selecting Accept & Freeze, Accept & Upgrade, Reject & Upgrade, Reject & Withdraw or another portal option. Similar labels can have different consequences depending on whether the candidate already holds a seat and which round is in progress.
In the 2026 rules, Round 4 was especially consequential. Candidates in certain upgrade statuses who received a Round 4 allotment had to accept and join, and the document states there was no seat-cancellation option during or after Round 4. A candidate receiving a first allotment in Round 4 had different options from someone continuing with an earlier seat. These rules should not be simplified to “you can always reject later.” Read the live round-specific instructions and refund policy before confirming a choice.
Schedule and next actions
COMEDK announced the 2026 counselling start on 29 May, after results were issued, and posted round-specific schedules and extensions on its counselling page. The engineering Round 4 schedule placed allotment on 1 September, decision and fee payment through 3 September after an extension, and reporting for Accept & Freeze candidates through 8 September. These are completed 2026 dates, not a forecast for the next cycle. The official page should be checked frequently because the 2026 schedule itself included extensions.
After a seat is accepted, follow the allotment letter for payment, reporting and joining. COMEDK advised candidates to check working hours with the allotted college and make travel arrangements in advance. Keep the online allotment letter and fee receipt. If you do not receive a desired option, do not assume another round will include your branch; check official remaining-seat and cutoff notices for that round.
Engineering, architecture and Uni-GAUGE routes
COMEDK’s 2026 engineering counselling schedule is separate from its architecture counselling notices. The same combined test sitting with Uni-GAUGE did not merge admissions: Uni-GAUGE participating universities handled their own application and counselling. Confirm the route shown on your score card and the authority named in the relevant notice before uploading documents or paying a counselling fee.
For 2027-28, dates, fees, round structure and decision rules remain unannounced in the official materials reviewed. When available, read the new process document, quick guide, seat matrix, fee policy and current schedule together. A rank card is an input to seat selection; only the official allotment and a completed admission process establish a seat.
