The 2026 brochure describes COMEDK UGET as the entrance test for B.E./B.Tech courses at participating institutions. COMEDK says it has been assigned the common test and centralised online counselling process for the participating private engineering colleges in Karnataka. Its site describes around 150 engineering colleges and approximately 20,000 seats for that cycle. Those are organisation-level estimates, not a promise that the same number of institutions or seats will appear in a later cycle. A college or branch matters only if it appears in the relevant official seat matrix and is open to the candidate’s applicable category or quota.
Do not treat “COMEDK” as a single examination for every professional course. The current UGET application and ranking rules discussed here concern engineering. Architecture admissions use separate eligibility and counselling steps, and the architecture notice is distinct from the engineering counselling schedule. The brochure’s B.Arch section describes a qualifying examination and aptitude-test requirement that differs from the B.E./B.Tech entry route. Medical and dental admissions are outside COMEDK UGET: COMEDK’s 2026 page says NEET is the mandated entrance examination for those courses. If your goal is architecture, medicine or dentistry, check the authority’s programme-specific notice rather than applying the engineering explanation below to it.
A second distinction matters if you are comparing COMEDK with Uni-GAUGE E. The 2026 exam was conducted as a combined single sitting, and the same application form and Test Admission Ticket covered both options. That does not make the admission routes interchangeable. COMEDK issued its own rank card, with percentile and rank, for its participating institutions; Uni-GAUGE issued a separate score card without rank or percentile, and candidates had to apply separately to participating universities, which held their own counselling. The COMEDK brochure says the institutions are separate. Choosing the combined examination option therefore does not place a candidate automatically into both admissions systems. Check each agency’s application selection, fee and later admission instructions.
For UGET 2026, Indian citizens, OCI candidates and PIO candidates could appear. The engineering qualifying examination was second PUC, Class 12 or an equivalent qualification recognised by a state or central government. The last two years of study had to include Physics, Mathematics and English, together with Chemistry or one of the listed alternatives: Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics. General Merit applicants needed at least 45% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and had to pass those subjects individually. The lower 40% threshold applied to SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State. The Karnataka limitation is essential: an applicant’s category by itself does not establish entitlement to the relaxed threshold.
COMEDK also required all subjects, including optional or additional subjects, to be passed and the marks to come from one board. It gives an example that combines Physics and Chemistry marks from CBSE with Mathematics marks from NIOS and says this does not meet the one-board rule. Diploma candidates were ineligible for the UGET engineering test because the brochure says there is no lateral-entry admission through this route. These rules are from the 2026 brochure; applicants should verify whether the 2027 authority adopts any change from AICTE, VTU or COMEDK. If a candidate has a non-standard qualification, multiple marksheets or a supplementary result, the safest step is to obtain a written answer from the helpdesk before relying on an assumption.
The entrance test and the Class 12 qualification do different jobs. A candidate must satisfy the qualifying-exam rule to be considered for admission, while the UGET score and rank determine merit in the COMEDK process. Sitting the test alone does not prove eligibility, guarantee a rank or secure a seat. The 2026 information says a zero score receives no rank. Keep the original qualifying marksheet available for the later counselling verification, and check the current brochure for any certificate or declaration required for your applicant type.
The 2026 engineering test was a computer-based test in English with 180 multiple-choice questions: 60 each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each correct answer was worth one mark, for a maximum of 180, and there was no negative marking for an incorrect response. The 2026 calendar placed the examination on 9 May. These are cycle-specific details, not a confirmed 2027 pattern. When a new brochure is released, verify the question count, timing, marking rule, mode and syllabus directly; a coaching page or old mock test may reflect a different cycle.
COMEDK described the 2026 syllabus as based on the CBSE syllabus, with approximately 33% from the Class 11 syllabus and 67% from Class 12. The official page linked separate Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics syllabi. That approximate split is a planning guide for the 2026 paper, not a guaranteed chapter-by-chapter weighting. Use the official subject documents as the checklist, then compare them with the textbooks and coursework you actually followed. Avoid inferring that a topic is excluded simply because a preparation site gives it low predicted weight.
A useful way to prepare is to keep the official syllabus and a mistake log together. For each subject, mark topics as not studied, understood but slow, or ready under timed conditions. Prioritise gaps that recur in practice rather than chasing an unofficial “most expected” list. Since the 2026 pattern had equal question counts by subject and no penalty for wrong answers, practice both accuracy and completion: an unanswered item had no chance of earning a mark, while a rushed guess could consume time needed for a question you can solve confidently. This is a study implication from the published scoring rule, not a prediction about the next paper.
COMEDK made an online mock test available to candidates with successful payment in their login. The official page cautions that the mock test did not reflect the actual test pattern or syllabus. Treat it as an interface rehearsal: practise navigating questions, changing an answer, using the computer-based screen and monitoring time. For syllabus coverage and exam difficulty, rely on the current brochure and relevant past papers where COMEDK provides them. A mock interface can reduce avoidable screen-related uncertainty, but it cannot validate a guessed topic list or forecast a score.
The completed 2026 application calendar opened on 3 February and had a final deadline extended to 23 March 2026. The select-field correction window ran from 10 to 13 April, and the Test Admission Ticket became available from 30 April. COMEDK scheduled the exam for 9 May, published provisional answer keys on 16 May, accepted objections through 18 May and made rank or score cards available from 29 May. This history illustrates that deadlines can be revised: the initial deadline on the official page was extended twice. It is a reason to follow live notices, not to assume that 2027 will use the same months or extension pattern.
For 2026, the application charge was ₹1,950 for COMEDK alone and ₹3,200 for the combined COMEDK and Uni-GAUGE option, before applicable transaction or internet-handling charges. The fee was non-refundable, and online payment was through the listed payment gateway. The two agencies’ application fees were independent. Confirm the amount shown in the live application form for the option you select; do not confuse this application charge with counselling registration payments, college tuition, hostel charges or other seat-related fees.
The 2026 brochure stressed that the application details would be used in later stages and that select corrections did not include critical identity and contact fields or test-city choice. Candidates needed to upload the prescribed documents and verify that payment was recorded after returning to the login. Save the submitted form, payment acknowledgement and login details. Photograph requirements can be exact: the brochure instructed applicants to use a recent colour photograph matching the uploaded image and to bring two recent copies to the examination. Follow the new cycle’s image specifications rather than reusing an old file without checking its dimensions and date.
The Test Admission Ticket, often called the TAT, was a download from the candidate login; COMEDK said it would not be sent by post or courier. The 2026 brochure required a printed TAT and the original photo identity document named in the application. It recommended reporting 90 minutes before the test and warned that candidates arriving after the reporting time on the ticket would not be admitted. It also advised students to check the centre’s exact location, especially where multiple campuses share a city name, and not to bring personal electronic devices. These are useful planning points, but the actual ticket and current instructions govern a future exam day.
COMEDK’s 2026 brochure says that a merit or rank card was generated from the candidate’s entrance-test score. Because the exam used multiple sessions, it describes normalisation and percentile-based ranking. It defines percentile in terms of the share of candidates who scored equal to or lower than a candidate and lists a subject-percentile and age-based tie-breaking order. This means a raw score estimate from a coaching test is not itself a COMEDK rank. The final rank card is the relevant document for COMEDK counselling, while the separate Uni-GAUGE score card serves its own participating-university route.
A rank is an ordering tool, not an admission promise. The result notice, eligibility check, category or quota, branch preference, participating seat availability and round-specific rules all affect whether an applicant is considered for a particular seat. A candidate should read the rank card carefully, preserve a copy and compare only like with like when reviewing past closing ranks: the same programme or branch, category or quota, round, and type of rank. A round’s last allotted rank is a record of that round and seat matrix, not a predicted threshold for a future year.
For the 2026 engineering cycle, COMEDK announced centralised single-window counselling after results. Its counselling document describes online registration, document upload and verification, choice filling, allotment and a decision on the offered seat. The 2026 engineering process was scheduled in four rounds. Candidates who wanted to participate had to register through the applicant login and pay a non-refundable ₹2,000 registration fee; choice filling became available only after registration and document approval. This fee is distinct from the examination application fee. The counselling process document and live notices specify each stage, payment and reporting condition; use them instead of a generic description copied from another state’s counselling.
Choice order matters because the allotment process considers the candidate’s submitted preferences against merit and available seats. Before filling choices, compare the course and college on practical grounds: branch curriculum, location, the total fee schedule, accommodation and travel, and the terms attached to accepting, upgrading, rejecting or withdrawing from a seat. COMEDK’s round rules can change what a candidate may do next. In 2026, later rounds included statuses with different consequences, and the document states that a candidate in Round 4 could not simply exit or cancel after allotment. Read the current round-specific decision guide before selecting an option; do not assume that a choice labelled upgrade or reject has identical effects in every round.
For a college shortlist, use the official seat matrix and fee documents linked from COMEDK’s counselling page, then confirm programme details and costs with the institution. The counselling page lists round-wise engineering cut-off rank notices, seat availability and fee documents. Those documents can support historical comparisons only when the row’s category, branch, round and seat type are retained. COMEDK UGET is one route to participating institutions, not a universal Karnataka engineering list. Do not treat a college as part of the process unless it appears in the current official matrix, and do not assume that every branch is available to every candidate.
As of 27 October 2026, the 2026 engineering counselling notices include round-wise schedules and cut-off links, but COMEDK has not published the 2027-28 calendar, application fee or rank thresholds. No 2027 cutoff can be responsibly quoted yet. The latest complete cutoffs are historical inputs for building a shortlist, not guarantees. When comparing them, use the official round-specific document and note whether the figure is a closing rank after allotment, a mock allotment rank or a different stage. A later round can reflect both candidate choices and changes in seat availability; a single number without those labels can mislead.
If you plan to apply in a future cycle, first confirm that your intended degree is in the COMEDK UGET engineering route. Then check the new brochure for subject combination, aggregate threshold, category and domicile conditions, one-board rule, application fee and test structure. Download the official syllabus and build your preparation plan from it. During application, check every identity, academic and payment field before submitting, and retain the confirmation. Once the test ticket appears, verify the centre, slot and document instructions. After results, use the official rank card and counselling notices to make choices, and compare previous cutoffs only with matching rows from the same branch, category or quota and round.
For applicants deciding between UGET and other exams, the strongest comparison is not simply the number of colleges or the test date. Compare the admissions each route actually serves, the qualifying criteria, the likelihood that your preferred branches appear in the applicable seat matrix, the fees and the separate counselling obligations. COMEDK’s combined sitting with Uni-GAUGE can save a second test appointment in a year when that arrangement is offered, but it does not merge the two scorecards or counselling systems. Keeping those distinctions clear prevents an application choice from being mistaken for a seat application.
The authoritative place to verify any new announcement is COMEDK’s official website. As of the date of this guide, the supported facts above refer to UGET 2026 and its 2026-27 admission process. Applicants should treat all future dates and amounts as unknown until the responsible notice publishes them.
