The following criteria are for COMEDK UGET 2026 B.E./B.Tech admission, not a confirmed 2027 rule set. As of 27 October 2026, COMEDK’s reviewed official pages do not publish a 2027-28 engineering eligibility notice. The current authority notice and brochure must be checked when that cycle opens. Eligibility has two parts: meeting the qualifying-examination conditions and appearing in the correct entrance examination. A qualifying percentage alone does not create a COMEDK rank or guarantee a seat.
Who could appear in 2026?
COMEDK’s 2026 page allowed Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India and Persons of Indian Origin to sit the examination. OCI and PIO applicants had to provide the declaration specified in the brochure during counselling registration. The test was open to eligible candidates across India; the reduced academic threshold, however, was limited to SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State. Applicants should not interpret the test’s all-India reach as meaning that every state category receives the same qualifying concession.
For B.E./B.Tech, the recognised qualifying examination was second PUC, Class 12 or an equivalent examination recognised by a state or central government. The last two years of study had to include Physics, Mathematics and English, together with Chemistry or one of the listed alternatives: Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics. General Merit candidates needed at least 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and had to pass these subjects individually. The threshold was 40% for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State. The qualifying marks calculation applies to PCM even when an allowed alternative subject is part of the course combination.
COMEDK required candidates to pass every individual subject, including optional or additional subjects. The subjects had to be passed from one board. The official page gives an example of a candidate using CBSE marks for Physics and Chemistry and NIOS marks for Mathematics and says that combination is not eligible. This matters for students with improvement examinations, compartment results, transferred marks or subject-wise boards. Review the exact qualifying records before paying an application fee, and ask COMEDK for written guidance if your documents do not fit the stated example.
Attempts, age and diploma questions
The 2026 material states that an attempt in the engineering entrance test is enough to be considered for the rank list, except a candidate with zero marks would not receive a rank. It does not establish that a prior attempt guarantees admission eligibility; the candidate still needs to meet the academic and programme conditions. The official FAQ directs older Class 12 candidates to the applicable AICTE/VTU norms for B.Tech eligibility and age. Because this is a cross-reference rather than a single age number in the UGET page, a candidate whose year of passing or age may be unusual should check the current applicable rule with COMEDK and the relevant authority rather than assume a fixed limit from an aggregator.
Diploma candidates were not eligible to take UGET for engineering because the 2026 brochure says that there was no lateral-entry admission through this exam route. That statement concerns COMEDK UGET’s engineering admission path; it should not be generalised to every diploma-to-degree pathway operated by other authorities or institutions.
The official material reviewed does not support a blanket claim about every appearing-candidate situation. Candidates awaiting a result, taking supplementary exams or holding an incomplete marksheet should read the current brochure and counselling document for the applicable proof deadline. The 2026 counselling process gave supplementary candidates specific registration and document-upload treatment, so the answer could depend on timing and what result was pending. If your qualifying status cannot be evidenced at the deadline, contact the helpdesk before relying on a provisional assumption.
Keep architecture separate
The brochure has a separate B.Arch eligibility section. Its 2026 qualifying routes included Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics plus one of several listed subjects and a minimum aggregate, or a 10+3 diploma with Mathematics, subject to stated pass and aggregate requirements. Architecture also follows a distinct registration and counselling schedule. This engineering eligibility guide does not substitute for the architecture notice, and a COMEDK engineering rank should not be treated as the architecture admission credential. Check the official architecture notice and aptitude-test rules for that route.
A practical self-check
Before applying, compare your situation with these questions: Is your target course B.E./B.Tech through COMEDK? Is your Class 12 or equivalent examination recognised? Does the required subject combination appear in your final qualifying record? Were all subjects passed and all marks issued by one board? Do you meet 45% in PCM, or the Karnataka-specific 40% threshold with a qualifying category and state scope? Can you provide the original records and any required OCI/PIO declaration at counselling? If one answer is uncertain, resolve it against the current COMEDK brochure before submitting.
The percentages above describe eligibility to be considered, not the rank needed for a preferred branch. Admission depends on the entrance-test rank and the applicable counselling rules, seat matrix, category or quota, round and submitted choices. A student who meets the academic minimum can still miss a seat; a student with a strong test score must still provide valid qualifying proof. Keep eligibility checks and cutoff planning as separate tasks.
