A useful COMEDK UGET preparation plan starts with the official syllabus and the actual test format, not a predicted chapter list. The latest exam materials reviewed as of 27 October 2026 cover the completed 2026 cycle. COMEDK has not published a 2027 syllabus or pattern in those pages, so use the guidance below as a method and revisit the official documents when the new cycle appears.
Begin with the prescribed PCM scope
The 2026 engineering test had three subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, with 60 multiple-choice questions in each. COMEDK said each correct answer earned one mark and there was no negative marking. The official syllabus page described about 33% of the syllabus from Class 11 and 67% from Class 12, based on CBSE material. That is an approximate class-level distribution, not a chapter-wise question guarantee. COMEDK linked separate subject PDFs, which are the right starting point for deciding what to study.
Make one checklist from those PDFs. For each topic, record whether you have not studied it, understand the method but make errors, or can solve representative questions accurately under time. Keep “coverage” separate from “performance”: a chapter can be completed but still need timed practice. This simple record gives you a way to choose the next task from evidence about your own work rather than from an unsupported claim that a chapter is certain to appear.
Practise by subject and error type
The equal 60-question allocation in 2026 gives a sound reason to keep all three subjects in regular rotation. It does not prove that every chapter within a subject is equally likely. For Physics, use the official unit list to move between conceptual understanding, equations and multi-step problems. For Chemistry, distinguish recall-heavy content from numerical and reaction-based work so that review matches the kind of error. For Mathematics, check both the setup and the calculation; a correct idea can still fail under time pressure if algebra is slow or error-prone.
After each practice set, classify misses: concept not learned, formula or fact not recalled, question misread, calculation error, or time pressure. Then select a short follow-up task that addresses the cause. Redoing every question immediately may create a false sense of completion; returning to a missed problem later tests whether the correction has lasted. This process is a practical implication of a multiple-choice test and the published subject structure, not a claim about a particular score gain.
Use the mock for the task it supports
COMEDK made an online mock available to candidates with successful payment in their applicant login. It said the mock was intended to familiarise candidates with the computer-based examination and cautioned that it did not reflect the actual test pattern or syllabus. Use it to practise reading on screen, selecting an option, changing or reviewing an answer and managing the interface. Do not use it as a substitute for syllabus coverage or as a reliable estimate of exam difficulty.
The 2026 pattern allowed candidates to review or change answers during the session. With no negative marking in that cycle, an unanswered question had no route to a mark, while an incorrect attempt did not reduce the score. A sensible practice routine is to make a first pass through questions you can solve confidently, mark difficult items for later if the software permits, then return to them while time remains. Avoid spending too long on one calculation at the expense of several manageable items. Check the current instructions before applying this strategy to a future pattern.
Build a cycle-specific revision calendar
Do not build your calendar around guessed 2027 dates. When COMEDK publishes the new schedule, work backwards from the confirmed exam date and include time to finish the official syllabus, practise mixed sets, review errors, use the mock interface and download the Test Admission Ticket. The previous cycle’s exam took place on 9 May 2026, but that date is historical. A new cycle could use a different calendar.
Keep the plan flexible enough to respond to the actual official syllabus. If the new PDFs add, remove or rename topics, update the checklist before devoting further time to a forecast. The exam page’s broad 2026 Class 11-Class 12 split cannot tell you how many questions will come from a particular unit. Be cautious of coaching “weightage” tables unless they cite a responsible COMEDK source and match the exact cycle.
A weekly review without invented hour targets
At the end of each study week, review three things: which official topics moved from unfamiliar to understood, which timed errors repeated, and whether all three subjects received practice. Use those observations to set the next week’s tasks. There is no official study-hour requirement or guaranteed score formula in the sources reviewed, so a schedule should reflect your remaining syllabus and available study time rather than a fabricated universal target.
Before the examination, return to the current brochure for the final pattern, identity-document instructions and exam-day requirements. Preserve sleep, travel and login checks in your preparation plan because a strong practice score is useful only if you can reach the assigned centre and comply with the ticket instructions. After results, interpret the official rank card and counselling rules separately from any mock score.
