A COMEDK UGET cutoff is meaningful only when its admission scope is clear. A closing rank in a branch and college after one counselling round is not interchangeable with a score prediction, qualifying percentage, mock allotment or the last rank in a different category. COMEDK’s official counselling page links round-specific engineering cutoff notices. The latest 2026 engineering document reviewed here is titled “Engineering - Cut-off Ranks after Round 4 Allotment” and was notified on 1 September 2026. Its figures describe that completed cycle and cannot be used as a guaranteed threshold for a future applicant.
Identify the exact record before comparing
The Round 4 PDF is a large table. Its header separates college code, college name, seat category and course or branch columns. A rank should be recorded with all of those labels. Before using a row, confirm the college code and campus, branch code, seat category, and that the document is for the intended counselling round and allotment stage. If any field is missing from a copied table, the number is incomplete evidence.
The counselling page links distinct engineering files for mock allotment, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and Round 4, along with vacant-seat and fee documents. These answer different questions. A mock-round cutoff is not a confirmed allotment. A final-round closing rank should not be described as the opening threshold or the cutoff for every round. A vacant-seat table shows availability at a specified stage, not the rank of the last admitted candidate. Match the document title to the claim before comparing it.
Category or quota labels also matter. The 2026 counselling materials distinguish General Merit seats from Kalyana Karnataka region seats and other applicable categories. A rank for one seat pool is not a safe substitute for another. Similarly, the cutoff file’s branch columns are course-specific. Do not use a college’s cutoff in one branch to estimate another branch’s boundary, even when the institution is the same.
How to use historical ranks
A careful historical comparison starts with the official file, not a coaching prediction. Select the same institution code and campus; verify the branch code; select the same seat category or quota; and compare the same round and allotment stage across cycles. Record the notice date and whether the number is from a mock or actual allotment. If you compare 2025 with 2026, use the official 2025 all-round document and the corresponding 2026 round document, then note changes in branch names, seat matrix, categories or rounds before drawing an interpretation.
A historical closing rank can help you judge whether a choice belongs in a preference list, but it is a record of a past allotment under a past seat matrix. It does not forecast the next year’s last rank. Applicant choices, available seats, category rules, branch intake and round participation can differ. A closing rank can move even if the institution and branch name look unchanged. Use a range of relevant official rounds where available and keep other realistic choices in the list.
Cutoff versus eligibility and rank
The Class 12 aggregate threshold is an eligibility condition, not an entrance-test cutoff. For 2026 B.E./B.Tech, COMEDK set minimum academic marks in PCM and separately generated a UGET rank from test performance. A candidate who meets the qualifying marks still needs a rank that can compete for a seat in the applicable pool. Conversely, a strong test rank does not remove the requirement to prove academic eligibility during counselling.
COMEDK’s 2026 result method used normalised percentile across multiple exam sessions, while its counselling tables present closing ranks by seat and branch. These are related stages but different data. Do not compare a raw test score or percentile with a table of closing ranks as though they share a unit. Use the rank card for the candidate’s position and the cutoff table for past allotment outcomes.
What can be said about 2027?
As of 27 October 2026, the official page reviewed contains 2026 counselling cutoffs and a historical 2025 cutoff document. It does not contain a published 2027 UGET admission cutoff. Any online number called “COMEDK 2027 cutoff” before the result and allotment process is a prediction, not a confirmed COMEDK closing rank. Do not use a predicted score as an official threshold or admission guarantee.
When the new cycle’s counselling begins, use the live COMEDK page and the exact round’s cutoff file. Keep the PDF title, notice date, college code, branch, category or quota, and allotment stage with each number you save. If a row is difficult to align because the table is wide, open the PDF at full size and verify the column heading; do not infer a rank from text extraction that has lost table alignment. This is especially important when comparing adjacent branch columns or seat categories.
A sensible shortlist uses past cutoffs as context alongside the current seat matrix, course fit, location, fee schedule and eligibility. It keeps choices open rather than relying on one historical rank. Until official 2027 round data exists, no defensible 2027 closing-rank table can be published.
